So the translation makes as a good a reading as the original. The translation will be just as a good a reading as the original. We make sure of it. We compare the translation’s contents to the original, polish its style and provide you with a text in the format you prefer.
Translation copy editors. As a rule, we work according to the four-eyes principle, systematically and along our well-tried operational procedures. Thus we make sure that the German translation is linguistically and stylistically all of a piece.
This is what we edit
Text types and genres. We copy edit a number of text types and genres: literary texts (novels, stories, essays), nonfiction (e.g. popular scientific texts, guide books, biographies), journalistic texts for print and digital media.
Original languages. We edit translations of literary, journalistic texts and of nonfiction from English, French, Polish and Russian.
Content. Atmosphere. Tonality. We review the translated text with regards to whether it completely and understandably reflects the content, atmosphere and tonality of the original manuscript in German language. Naturally with a vocabulary that is adequate for the text type, genre and targeted readership.

Comparative copy editing. In a first step, we compare the original to its translation – sentence per sentence. We comb through the text, looking for translation mistakes and inconsistencies, such as incomplete or wrong translated paragraphs, we check whether the content has been transferred correctly and whether unclear or improper images have occurred.
Translation copy editors. Your texts will be edited by copy editors with a triple qualification: with a sure instinct for text works, with a sensible ear the original language’s nuances and a profound knowledge of its culture.
Linguistic and stylistic finish. In a second step, we’ll take care of the final polishing of language and style: We erase accidentally produced rhymes and alliterations and correct spelling mistakes.
According to your wishes. Upon request, we contact the translator and together find the best solution for especially tricky text passages. Or we send you the edited but not corrected manuscript and only do the proofreading after your approval.
